Summary/Abstract: Globalization implies continuous flow of goods and capital, people’s mobility on holidays or to business purposes, as well as the communication between persons from different parts of the world. As the countries are opening their frontiers, it is but natural that an increasing number of people should want to live and work abroad. At present, changes may appear from a controlled migration to a supervised one. While the supervised migration enables to a large number of people to move, the problem of identity will become even more pressing. The host countries will need to redefine their identity. Some people may add to the question the diversity of their own notion about themselves, as is nowadays the case with a part of Canada. To many people, being a Canadian includes absorbing different cultures: the city of Toronto translates all the official documents in 10 languages. This flexible identity helps the others to integrate. Other nationalities can define themselves by means of the very characteristics that differentiate them from the immigrants.
