Considerations on the Relation between the Union and the „Schism” in Transylvania, during the Bishop Inochentie Micu-Klein

Summary/Abstract: The Romanian Union issue had been a subject of debate for the Transylvanian Diet during the 4th decade of the 18th century, reflecting the different opinions of those involved: the bishop Inochentie Micu-Klein on one hand, and the local and provincial authorities, the members of the Estates and the Catholic Status, on the other. These debates have come to an end in 1744, when the laws of the Principality Diet finally regulated the confession status and that of the Uniate Church. All these happened because of the impulse the Viennese Court during the emperor Charles the Sixth gave to the debates, by showing their direct interest in the promotion of Catholicism and the consolidation of a union among the Easterners. The renewal of the main moments of the debates,beginning from a new reading of the sources is the subject of the present thesis. It tries to grasp the opinions on Union up to the crisis regarding this issue, in 1744; in that context, every side found good arguments for sustaining a certain point of view. Even if the given attitudes are not enough reason for the crisis, their investigation is highly important for reconstituting the context. Opinii privitoare la raporturile dintre Unire şi „Schismă” în Transilvania, în timpul episcopului Inochentie Micu-Klein. Subiect al dezbaterilor Dietei Transilvaniei din deceniul patru al secolului XVIII, problematica unirii românilor a prilejuit exprimarea unor opinii adesea divergente, în funcţie de punctele de vedere ale părţilor implicate: episcopul unit Inochentie Micu-Klein, respectiv autorităţile locale şi provinciale, reprezentanţii Stărilor şi Status-ul catolic. Reluarea principalelor momente ale disputei, pornind de la o nouă lectură a surselor, reprezintă obiectul comunicării de faţă. Ea încearcă să surprindă poziţiile afirmate faţă de unire până în momentul declanşării crizei acesteia, în anul 1744. Este analizat conţinutul conceptului de „unire” utilizat în perioada primelor trei decenii scurse de la realizarea unirii, respectiv în timpul episcopului Inochentie Micu-Klein. În prima perioadă menţionată, diversele luări de poziţii au încercat definirea unirii, inclusiv în relaţie cu „schisma”.
