Summary/Abstract: Zadrima is the region that includes the villages on the left side of the Drin River, in its downstream. These villages are very old and are inhabited for centuries. In the traditional society’s way of life, in addition to the characteristics and conditions of material life, an important place takes deepening in the psychology, customs and tradi-tions of family life. In this paper we will pay particular attention to the position which the woman from Zadrima had in traditional family, focusing primarily upon the moment of creation a new family, the procedures followed for her engagement and marriage. There will be seen the figure of the woman from Zadrima in comparative context with the figure of woman to other population groups, living as arrivals in this area, mainly descended from the mountains. Characteristics, differences and commonalities be-tween their statuses will be seen, focusing on ritual practices and on oral heritage. Some of these rituals are also preserved today in this area, but this may be an argu-ment to be treated in another expanded work.
