Summary/Abstract: Cities of Kosovo and their Involvement in Wars of XVI - XVIII Centuries In this study, we have specially emphasized Austro–Ottoman wars, during the XVII century, consequences of which have left deep imprint on the development of the Kosovo's cities life. Another important element in this framework represent especially the Albanian uprisings against ottomans during the XVII-XVIII centuries. Uprisings of this time can be considered as expression of Albanians’ displeasure with the tax system and the ill-treatment of Turkish administration. The intensity of Albanian uprisings was added and intensified even more during these centuries. Among all, the cities of Kaçanik, Prishtina, Prizren and Peja were distinguished. Uprisings had involved notably Kelmend's mountainous lands, lands that lie until Mitrovica and Novi Pazari. Ottoman Empire used different methods to calm the people of Kelmend, making them even some concessions, but it didn't succeed. Even though wars have left huge consequences except Novoberda, a city that was almost entirely destroyed, other cities like Peja, Vuqitërna, Prizreni (administrative center), Prishtina and later on Gjilani and Gjakova, recovered themselves and moved on along other advanced cities of the Balkans.
