Summary/Abstract: At the end of the XIX century, the peasant movement in Romania, aiming to form the Peasant Party that defended the villagers’ interests, took an institutionalised form. In Dâmbovița county, as well as in other counties of Romania, an important role to support this movement was played by the teachers, encouraged and inspired by renowned intellectuals such as Constantin Dobrescu – Argeș, M. Vasile Kogălniceanu, and Ion Mihalache. Their various actions (press writings, the cooperative movement, the extracurricular activities) have attracted many of the villagers and have led to the foundation of the county organization of the Peasant Party, one of most powerful in the country, in Târgoviște, on December 13th, 1918.
