Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyze the history of the seminary of the Upper Volga region in the first half of the XIX century. Theauthor of the article developed a model of reginal seminaries’ establishment and introduced a wide range of new historical sourceson the topic. The significance of the research has a two-tier character: it is important from both educational point of view and froma practical approach as well. The obtained knowledge on the practice and experience of regional seminaries’ establishment may besought after by the founders of contemporary divinity schools. The research provides an in-depth analysis of historical conditionsunder which seminaries of the Upper Volga region functioned. All Russian tendencies and characteristic features of local experienceon seminaries’ establishment are studied. Qualitative and quantitative characteristics of seminaries’ students and their teaching staffare presented. The seminaries’ facilities and resources are described.
