Summary/Abstract: The writers of the Spanish realism cultivated the type of customs in their various and short modalities, before launching in the field of the extensive novel. We are going to focus on two novels of Emilia Pardo Bazan, Pascual Lopez. Autobiography of a Student of Medicine and La Tribuna, to see the legacy of the article of customs and for that we are going to examine the types studied in The Spanish Painted by Their Own, which will give life to a series of types and scenes that have their own argumentative framework.
