Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the iconography, chronology and possiblecircumstances of the production of a medal belonging to the collection of the NumismaticCabinet of the National Museum in Krakow, which combines the diesknown from Napoleonic-period original medallic production to produce an obverse/reverse type absent from existing catalogues and literature on the subject. Themedal relates to the birth of the King of Rome (after 1818 known as the Dukeof Reichstadt), son of Napoleon I and Marie-Louise of Austria, in 1811 but wasstruck in the mid-19th century, most likely under the Second Empire.
