Summary/Abstract: Development is focused on issues related to the uncertainty avoidance in the workplace and the factors motivating employees. It is based on the results of empirical research in three groups of companies: Polish; which use Japanese management methods; Polish; which do not use Japanese management methods and Japanese companies operating in Poland. The research method is comparative case studies in the three groups of companies. The aim of the survey was to show which of the motivating factors are the most important to employees in the surveyed companies and to show which ones help to reduce uncertainty in the workplace. At the end there are given examples of actions that are taken in Japanese companies in Japan. There is also formulated a recommendation that a number of these actions should be transferred to the Polish companies to strengthen the effectiveness of motivation and help to reduce the feeling of uncertainty.
