Summary/Abstract: Traditional film photography is now replaced on a larger scale by digital photography, allowing all sorts of changes, metamorphoses, multiplications and cloning of objects. The original photo image comes to be used only as a resource medium, as a basic element for an information that is lost gradually by dilution, and is rebuilt as an abstract composition. More than just a tool, the digital image processing technique and computer science involve a new system of thought and perception of space. Digital images frequently bear the mark of rigor and strict codification. Grids, sequences of numbers, letters or abstract signs are just some of the type-specific elements of language. In this context, the digital image is a clear example of the output that can be controlled from one end to another.
