Summary/Abstract: The present paper aims to publish the family letters concerning the writer Miklós Bánffy which were seized and kept by the Romanian Secret Police. Also, the study wishes to integrate these letters into the general framework of contemporary Bánffy correspondence, as comprised in Ildikó Marosi`s book, entitled Bánffy Miklós estéje. At the time of the letters – 1946/47 – Miklós Bánffy was living in Kolozsvár / Cluj, enduring “class struggle” and having no perspectives for the improvement of his social standing. Being noble-born, he has lost all chance of being published. Seeking employment, his wife, Aranka Váradi, an actress of the National Theatre moved back with their daughter Kató to Budapest in December 1945.
