Summary/Abstract: The article analyses antonymy in Old Bulgarian as a paradigmic relationship from several viewpoints: 1) word-formation of semantic opponents in Old Bulgarian (opponents that are in the relationship "original word vs derivated word"); 2) the relationships "antonymy vs synonymy" and "antonymy vs polysemy"; 3) the interesting phenomenon of enantiosemy; 4) how the relationship between the words of the original text should be rendered in the translation; 5) opposition in so-called antonymic contexts with a classification of these contexts on the basis of different features (the syntactic relationship between the opponents, the function in the sentence, morphological classification).
