Summary/Abstract: This formal lecture was delivered by Olga M. Mladenova at her Doctor Honoris Causa award ceremony in Aula Magna of the Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“ on 13 May 2015. It outlines the author’s approach to the study of Bulgarian vernacular literacy of the seventeenth and the eighteenth centuries and lists some of the outcomes of her research.
