Summary/Abstract: The author considers as a literary happening such events that discover or cause serious shifts in characters’ perception and, therefore, their world outlook. The most important task of happening is to cause emotional experiences that result into work of mind, into changing in the view of the world. There is a catharsis, which includes psychological and logo therapy. It’s a kind of mental maturation of a person, if you like. Aesthetically, happening defines the plot and the structure of the character. Not by chance the majority of works of world literature start with the reference to the incident or foreseeable event. There are various formulas of standard introductions, `ones upon a time`, `it was`, `after`, `I remember` and so on. The narrative itself suggests the eventual discourse. The narrative is impossible avoiding some sequence of events. Even if nothing happens it is also a kind of the event. Thus, the quality of the event determines the quality of character’s mental and moral spiritual (though there also exists a reverse pattern: only mental and moral problems of the hero may become an existential event). Tell me about your troubles and confusions and I’ll tell you who you are.
