Summary/Abstract: Within the context of European philosophy and culture, Lucian Blaga’s metaphysics continues to score an outstanding axiological performance, by which the space of Romanian spirituality earns its accreditation. That is the main reason for undertaking an analysis of Blaga’s philosophical heritage, which could testify for the today’s impact of a philosophical approach, as well as for its keeping synchronous with the similar contemporary European projects. This paper aims at drawing attention to the contributions made by pre-1989 research to the better understanding of Blaga’s philosophy, as well as to the merits of the efforts made in the past quarter of a century in order to shed light on the intricacies of his discourse. The goal of the paper is also to invite a more detailed assessment of Blaga’s philosophical heritage, in view of its alliances established with literature and theology, as well as in view of the metaphorical language in which the philosopher had his metaphysical works articulated. Light is shed, especially, on the peculiarities of the philosophical idiom that the philosopher invested in his aphorisms (in Discobolul) and on the status of the metaphor that bifrons Blaga employed in his equal poet and philosopher’s capacity.
