Summary/Abstract: Text comprehension and reading itself can be seen as a sort of interplay of several processes drawing not only on our knowledge, but reflecting also our experience and many other aspects. Nevertheless, what impact does L1 exert in L2 reading comprehension context and the other way around? The aim of the study is to present this field with respect to the differences, but also similarities concerning reading and text comprehension in L1 and L2 and to pose questions representing a challenge both in the field of educational theory and practice.
