Summary/Abstract: The paper entitled Linguistic Analysis of a Literary Text is based on short story titled House of István Örkény. The subject of this paper is therefore the linguistic analysis of the text. In the introduction I theorize about the importance of linguistics in the analysis and interpretation of literary texts. During the analysis, I am looking to the close relationship between literature and linguistics; take into account the structure of the entire literary works and mainly I’m looking at morphological and syntactic characteristics of the text, always showing how and in what way grammatical structure influences the text’s semantic analysis of the literary interpretation. The analysis wants to highlight the fact that the form and meaning aren’t isolated from each another, they complete one another. To give a more comprehensive image about the subject, we can not only do a morpho-syntactic analysis Therefore my paper views the literary work from the text linguistics point of view (a branch of linguistics), providing an interdisciplinary analysis. We can see therefore that the semantic, pragmatic or even global level analysis of the grammatical text leads us to the same conclusion: the literary work can be interpreted very well starting from the base, from the form. The last part of the paper surpasses the analysis of a single work in order to prove that the adopted analytical method is not valid only for a specific literary, but also is generally valid.
