Summary/Abstract: Douglass W. Bailey is Professor of Archaeology and Visual Anthropology in the Department of Anthropology at San Francisco State University, United States of America. He took his MPhil (1986) and PhD (1991) in archaeology from Cambridge University, United Kingdom. Between 2006 and 2008 he was the Head of Archaeology at Cardiff University, United Kingdom, and from 2008-2011, Chair of the Anthropology Department at San Francisco State University. His many research interests include prehistoric and ancient art, visual and material culture, the archaeology of prehistoric Europe, and the archaeology of the contemporary past. He has directed research projects in Bulgaria, Romania and the United States of America.
