MAIN THREATS TO NATIONAL SECURITY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 21ST CENTURY. AIR SURVEILLANCE CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS AND PERSPECTIVES

Summary/Abstract: The security environment is continuously changing and transforming, being characterized by the emergence of new threats whose origin, rooted in globalization, is hard to determine. The evolution of political situation at regional and international level and the new threats to national security have forged improvements of the military component of security. The technological advancement in latter years has resulted in the creation of UAV-type operational platforms able to perform air surveillance and intelligence missions, thus contributing to obtaining a real-time image of the battlefield, as well as to changing the way missions are conducted.
