Summary/Abstract: Paleolithic cave painting remains a source of delight and provokes interpretations. Neuroscience supplies surprisingly effective tools for the reconstruction of painting practices from 30.000 years ago. A glacial age cave becomes a peripersonal space, a prehistoric painter is transformed into a performer, and the act of painting the rock and incising in it turns into a transformative performance.
