Summary/Abstract: Coalition politics as if embodies the essence of democracy - the settlement of disagreements, the search of affinity, the seek for a compromise. The success of it is determined by a variety of reasons, however, in any case the basic one in decision-making is the ability of political leaders to engage in a discussion. More than a couple of decades ago, A. Lijphart set criteria for a consensus democracy, where compromises and negotiations were considered the chief means for achieving political change.
