Summary/Abstract: Through this study we try to analyze the Patrons of the Saxon churches from the Hârtibaciu basin. These ecclesiastical monuments have benefited lately from studies regarding their history, architecture and, sporadically, archaeology. These works are mentioning only random information about the Patrons of the churches. We believe that an approach from this perspective would enrich the spectrum of research and will open new ways of analysis regarding the early stages of Saxon churches’ construction, the profile of the communities who built these structures, the origin of the colonists came from (if analogies are to be found) etc. We notice that a large number of churches from this area have the same Patron as the church from Sibiu, St. Mary. Most of them were built during the first stage of the Saxons’ colonization, having been built in the Romanesque style.
