Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study by Tomáš Dvořák is to summarize the basic parameters of the debate on the relation between history writing and the internet which has taken place especially in the German speaking area in the last several years. The author points out the fact that the entry of history writing in the world of the hypertext is connected with a number of doubts and concerns regarding the future of this very discipline. He admits that the inclusion of the hypertext online history writing in the standard outputs of historians’ work will bring about new demands of training the authors and broadening their competencies. According to Dvořák, the history research has already entered the internet and it is thus necessary not to merely passively follow this trend but to actively shape it. For this reason, for example, the author recommends including the “creation of the Wikipedia facts” in the history teaching and at the same time he encourages historians to participate in cultivating this online encyclopaedia.
