Summary/Abstract: Mihail Sebastian, a playwright, a modernist novelist and an essay writer, therefore a complex personality, was fully engaged in activities such as literary criticism and book reviewing, actively pursuing issues concerning literary theory. For a while, most of his reviews and literary essays showing a particular interest in literary theory and literary canons evolved around the works and, generally speaking, around the personality of Proust, the very reason why his poetic insight (meaning his narrative construct) focused on this particular topic. Nevertheless, the author was not a mere empathetic reader and a constant admirer of Proust. He managed to separate himself from the subject, to notice and lucidly analyze the narrative strategy and literary constructs as well as to shape up the first sketch of poetics of the novel In Search of Lost Time.
