Summary/Abstract: Between the wars the German speaking theatres in Czechoslovakia changed from normal provincial theatres into stages of exile. Brno was one of the stations the actors passed on their way; some stayed only for one season, others for several years. Different people with different pasts met on this stage - some were German, others were Austrian or Czech citizens, some were trying to leave Europe, others believed Czechoslovakia would remain a free, democratic country. This text tries to follow the paths of some of these actors of Jewish background - some of these paths lead into exile, some to Terezín and from there to the concentration camps.
