About Witnesses and Witnessing in the Bosnian Historical Views

Summary/Abstract: In his essay author explores and deconstructs ideological misuses of some of the most important terms in the Muslim intellectual tradition. Terms ‘witness’ and ‘witnessing’, ‘opener’ and ‘opening’ are of key significance for understanding and reasoning within the Muslim traditional holiness. Distorted, narrowed and reductive forms of these terms have been taken by antimuslim ideologists as material within their own constructions. In deconstruction of such ideological abuse of terms, Mahmutćehajić applies new knowledge from experiences in Scriptural Reasoning. Terms from the history of Bosnian culture have been considered as study cases.
