Summary/Abstract: “Bošnjak” is the first political journal of Bosniak people. It was initiated by Mehmed-Bey Kapetanović Ljubušak with a group of fellow intellectuals in 1891 and lasted until 1910. His programme was based on the affirmation of the Bosniak nation and the Bosnian language. The journal did not succeed in this, primarily because the political context of that time was very unwilling to establish the Bosniak nation. After Ljubušak left it, the owner of journal was Muhamed-Bey Filipović, and editors Hilmi Muhibić, Edhem Mulabdić, Jusuf-Bey Filipović, Šukri Karišiković and Mohamed Softić. Regardless of its failure to outline its ideas and programme, Bošnjak had a firm place in political and journalistic history.
