Summary/Abstract: K. K. Daukša’s manuscript Lithuanian grammar, dating from the 1st half of the 19th century, is the earliest Lithuanian grammar written in Lithuanian. This makes it an important source on the history of grammar and Lithuanian grammatical terminology. Among other pre-Schleicherian grammars of Lithuanian it stands out by its exhaustive and quite modern treatment of word formation. The article deals with the place of word formation in grammar as conceived in Daukša’s work, and its relationship to modern word formation theory.
