Summary/Abstract: There are increasingly numerous reports that the first deliveries from the vast Kashagan oil field in Kazakhstan will not begin to flow in 2005, as first planned, but in 2007. The huge significance of the field, one of the largest in the world, could lead to some substantial revisions of oil forecasts for the next few years. The dispute accompanying the dispute may also add to concerns about a possible change in the investment climate in Kazakhstan.
