Summary/Abstract: Macroregions are the result of consolidation of smaller territorial units. Macroregions are complex units. In global, integrating and overcoming a crisis worldwide economy, controlling the grouping area is a difficult process, connected with barriers and disproportions between voivodeships that compose macroregion. In Poland’s West Macroregion there is an additional problem and also a borderline along all region. Becoming a grouping area has a goal to create and implement common development strategy, use available potentials of subregions in an innovative way, create an area of functional and cohered space with wide offer for a particular recipient group. The Odra river divides and connects the territory with the area of Germany and the Czech Republic. Poland’s West Macroregion as a grouping area has considered the same tasks and problems in the common strategy and programming development.
