Summary/Abstract: The essence of analysis is a form of a cause-effect relationship, where the current condition of development of villages of the Złote Mountains, Lądek Zdrój commune, Kłodzko district, is an explanatory variable, and the explaining one − local identity. It is being proved that an emigration of its authors and immigration to an unknown area, of the ethnically diverse society, were the first and another consequence of the interruption of the process of forming of idiosyncrasies of the local cultural environment. A process of the destruction, of devastation, and in consequence of decline of the financial testimony of the historically shaped local identity is an effect. Moreover it is being proved that elements shaping the local identity that is “being born” or “taking root” have minimal meaning. The destructive role of weekend houses, including the time inhabited in the creation of the modern image of the village is indicated. Current identification of society with already created country cultural surroundings has passive character, and the uniqueness of the rooting process is difficult − if at all recognizable.
