Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to describe the acoustic features of Standard Lithuanian accented monophthongs and to reveal differences between circumflex and acute tones. Initially stressed words with monophthongs of the CV / C’V type, were investigated. In all, 376 words of this type were selected. The analysis of the spectrograms was based on description and investigation of the following properties of monophtongs: fundamental frequency, intensity, duration, and basic formant.
