Summary/Abstract: Constructions with serial verbs (verb pairs, pair-verbs, paired verbs) in the Finno-Ugric languages of the Volga-Kama region (in comparison with ones in the Samoyedic languages) are dealt with in the article. The author proves the point of view about independent and spontaneous development of serial verbs in the Uralic languages, also favoured by contacts with the Turkic languages.
