Ruthenians in »Slovenskje narodnje novini«, »Orol tatranski« and »Slovenskje pohladi na vedi, umenja a literature«

Summary/Abstract: The author of the study analysed and commented on journalistic expressions in the periodical Slovenskje národňje novini (three articles and 19 reports), in its annex – Orol tatránski (travel reportages, Ruthenian legend and two reports) and in the magazine Slovenskje pohladi na vedi, umeňja a literatúru (in the year 1852 Slovenské pohlady na literatúru, umenie a život) a contribution on Ruthenian literature, correspondent’s letter, compare Russian and Slovak language, a contribution of Russian sermons and four short reports regarding the life and status of Hungarian Ruthenians in the mid-19th century. The author also focused on the document Žiadosti Slovákov a Rusínov v Uhorsku (Requests of Slovaks and Ruthe- nians in Hungary), which was presented by Jozef Miloslav Hurban on behalf of Slovaks at the first Slavic Congress in Prague. Ruthenian leaders did not take part in it and did not even participate in the requests.
