Summary/Abstract: In April 2013, it was approved the Intelligence Analyst’s Occupational Standard that speaks about needed skills & abilities, professional key requests, quality benchmarks and evaluation tools for such specialists. This standard was created to unite at the same table intelligence analysis experts from Romanian governmental agencies, private companies and academic institutions in a common effort to set a conceptual corpus in this field. We now face good premises for professionals both from public and private sector to speak the same language, benefit of high quality training curricula, plan career development, find new opportunities for scientific research and build a professional community. The paper describes the process; the philosophy setting behind the new Intelligence Analyst’s Occupational Standard and gives a glance into the future perspectives of this field. Also, offer for military leaders the opportunity to see how to work with their analysts, what they need and what they can offer for a better decision.
