Summary/Abstract: The history of the Orthodox Church from Transylvania during the nineteenth century represents a complex field of research and of knowing the past of this blessedgeographic region since the Church history confounds itself with the local, regional,cultural, national, political and social history of the Transylvanian Romanians. Both during the long pastoral care of the bishop Vasile Moga (1810-1845) and in particularof the holy metropolitan Andrei baron of Şaguna (1846-1873) as well as of his successors till the Grand Union-Procopie Ivacicovici (1873-1874), Miron Romanul(1874-1898), Ioan Meţianu (1898-1916) and Vasile Mangra (1916-1918)-the Orthodox Church from Transylvania has been the fundamental institution of the Transylvanian Romanians that has guided, protected and fought for the spiritual and religious exigences, for the social and political demands, for the cultural and national aims andalso for the educational interests of the Orthodox Romanians living in Transylvania,Banat and Hungary.
