Summary/Abstract: The use of video as an audio-visual aid in foreign language teaching has increased and it can help both foreign language teachers and learners. The aim of this study is to explore the effect that video has on secondary school students' success in general comprehension and learning new vocabulary. The participants in this study are the first grade pupils of grammar school in Secondary School Capljina in the school year 2013/2014. One class represents a video-based group whereas the other class represents a text-based group. Both groups covered the same materials which were presented in two different forms - a video form for students in the video-based group and a written form for students in the text-based group. The analysis of the tests done by students in both groups showed which group had been better and more successful.
