Summary/Abstract: Chino-Yugoslav political relations had come to a dead end after the first wave of enthusiasm that followed the year of establishing diplomatic relations in 1970. In an attempt to restore more dynamic cooperation between two countries, at least in non-political sphere, China had agreed to send a great archaeological exhibition to Yugoslavia. It was a part of Chinese cultural diplomacy whose goal was to push aside the remembrance of Cultural Revolution by showing its ancient heritage to the Western world. Yugoslavia was just one of the stops on the long journey that exhibition had. The main goal was to show Chinese greatness during the millenniums and to connect it with greatness of modern China. There were a lot of obstacles in the way of bringing the exhibition to Yugoslavia and the organization itself lasted for several months. Finally, the exhibition was held during the April and May of 1974 and was a significant cultural event in Socialist Yugoslavia that attracted great public attention. It was an important event that influenced further promotion of cooperation between China and Yugoslavia, but still had to wait for 1976 in order to significantly improve the political relations.
