Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to make, in brief, a presentation and analysis of the relationship between political parties and Romanians’ options for a populist and nationalist party leader during the elections. In a period when one could consider that the political landscape got a stabile configuration, suddenly, it was created “de novo” a party that gained a significant percentage in the Parliament (2012) and then propelled its leader in the presidential elections (2014).The author’s working hypothesis is that in a world in which all become volatile, insecure, people need somebody to lead them, to tell them fantastic things and make them beautiful promises. Putting in other words, to tell them a beautiful life-story in which they could believe. In order to enjoy such story, the audience engages in a phenomenon known as “suspension of disbelief”. This capacity belongs to a certain type of leader and sometime replaces a charismatic leader through excellent communication skills. The “suspension of disbelief” is a semi- conscious decision in which you put aside your disbelief and accept the premise as being real for the duration of the story.
