MARRIAGE PROJECT OF PRINCE CAROL II WITH ONE OF TSAR NICHOLAS II’S DAUGHTERS

Summary/Abstract: One year before WWI a project of marriage caught the attention of the European governments: a possible marriage of prince Carol of Romania with one of the tsars Nicolas’ II daughters. The heir prince Ferdinand’s letters and the diplomatical reports of Austro-Hungarian plenipotentiar Count Czernin are witnesses for this project. The marriage has never never realized but this have no influence upon the separation of Romania from the secret alliance with the Central Powers.
