Begging phenomenon in the contemporary Romanian Society

Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to analyze the begging phenomenon from the perspective of the sociology of delinquency. We expound evolution and development of the concept of begging, through the time and social circumstances in Romania, from the perspective of the criminal law incrimination, and also through its perception at the population level in our country. A quantitative and qualitative valuation of the begging phenomenon proves that it has become a great challenge to the Romanian society: the beggars are of all types and the forms of manifestation are complex and extensive.
