Summary/Abstract: The starting point of this study is grounded in Stuart Hall’s Encoding/Decoding model of communication and in his three hypothetical positions for the reader of a text. The central aim of this study is to determine whether Romanians’ representation in English newspapers headlines is a realistic one or not. Through content analysis of a sample of English newspapers headlines, the study tries to depict the linguistic representations used and their degree of accuracy.
