Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the cultural and educational outreach among the youth in Leningrad in the 1950s. The author analyzes the modes and methods of organization of leisure time of soviet youth in the universities, factories, cultural centers and parks; methodology for cultural events in some typical organizations; specific methods of upbringing in cultural centers and parks of culture and rest. Cultural events broadened the elevate mind of the younger generation, enriched their inner world, acquainted them with high models of domestic and world culture. Ideological staff paid special attention to rap session after collective visits to the theaters and cinema, which contributed to the development of analytical skills and reflection. Cultural and educational events helped young people to choose their future profession. Whereas, lectures and study groups assisted students and young workers in the development of new knowledge, stimulated an exchange of opinions on professional matters that improved the quality of study and work. Cultural and educational outreach among the youth played an important social role. The participation of the younger generation in educational activities encouraged them to organize themselves, attached them to the social norms. Cultural and educational activities held in conjunction with entertainment (dancing, clubs of the funny etc.). Combining education and entertainment allowed to diversify outreach and gave youth an opportunity to relax, at the same time through recreational activities they turned to culture.
