Summary/Abstract: An anonymous Slavonic homily for Pentecost, which quotes from untranslated (Or. 28, 31) or later translated (Or. 39, 41) works of St Gregory of Nazianzus, can be identifi ed as the conclusion of a cycle of homilies, addressed to an audience of Slavic clergymen aspiring to the priesthood. The other homilies of the cycle are ascribed to a blessed or holy Cyril, or occasionally to a Cyril of Turov (spuriously so, as the copies show that they were transcribed from an antigraph written in Glagolitic). In contrast to the other homilies, this one is preserved not only in an edited version, but also in a version that may be deemed to be the author’s own text. Arguments are adduced to consider, whether not only this homily, buт the entire cycle belongs to thе hand of St Cyril.
