Summary/Abstract: The Balkan space, under Ottoman rule at the beginning of the 20th century, deals with an extreme ethnic diversity and nationalist claims encountered within young Balkan states whose main objective has been, for decades, the establishment of their own communities as national states. This idea of the state nation, had previously been used to group the whole ethnic group belonging to a historical past and which shared a common language and traditions. This territorial homogeneity has been possible through successive colonisations by individuals belonging to the same community. A similar colonisation pattern also applies to the Macedo-Romanians.
