Summary/Abstract: When one observes the contemporary global society, one sees the two concepts that connect the nations, religions, ideologies and cultures: crisis and change. They can be noticed everywhere: the most explicitly in the economy and politics, through security and international law, science and education, to the media and journalism. New communication technologies with the processes of globalization, de-nationalization, seizing sovereignty, conglomeration and corporatism have transformed the appearance of the planet, highlighting the process of collecting, selecting, shaping and managing information as a priority for the preservation of social power. The problem lies in the fact that a large number of media across the planet is owned by a few global corporations. In that way, the growing gap between rich and poor is concealed by directing and overseeing information, which are spectacular, emotional and sensational, thus attracting the attention of recipients. Instead of words, in reports prevails spun image, the depth of thinking is changing by manipulation and superficiality, and analytics is replaced by propaganda. Civilly responsible journalism should be set away from the government, executive authorities, legislators, financial centres, police, trade unions, churches... because it’s the only way to supervise them. Otherwise, journalism itself would only become a part of the system, serving the ideological interests of the oligarchy and corporate capital, which threatens the democracy!
