Summary/Abstract: The article presents a range of issues including consumer protection and education, as well as consumer policy represented by governmental and consumer institutions. The consumer’s position on the market has been specified on the basis of research results; so has been the rating of consumers’ institutions and organizations dealing with consumer issues in Poland. The article also indicates risk zones for consumers’ interests, (i.e. consumer rights violations exemplified especially in contracts) as well as stresses the importance of consumer education as an important aspect of consumer policy.
