Summary/Abstract: We have entered a post-Western sociological space of knowledge. This is a “global turning point” in sociology that imposes theoretical and methodological detours, displacements, reversals and conversions. In view of methodological cosmopolitanism, discontinuous continuities and continuous discontinuities are arising between European and Chinese sociologies. A post-Western space is emerging from the connections between theoretical, methodological, and multisited knowledge. In this article, we suggest a way to access multiple collective narratives which co-exist in relative autonomy but, at the same time, interact or interlock. This approach entails indentifying the delimited proper spaces and shared spaces of methodological knowledge. In this post-Western space, we will consider the conditions of creating narratives, of linking local knowledge and global knowledge. This approach enables us to identify the points at which sociologies constructed in the West and those produced in China meet, overlap and cross-fertilize each other.
