Summary/Abstract: Public consultations are one of crucial factors conditioning the correctness and transparency of investments carried out within the PPP formula. Public acceptance voiced during the dialogue between local authorities and inhabitants should be an endorsement for this particular form of public service delivered by a private partner. Given the specifics of the PPP, inhabitants should be fully informed about the nature of investments realised in the PPP form, the architecture of such co-operation as well as the terms and price of delivered services. Consultations are intended to prevent potential conflicts or protests on the part of inhabitants while investment is in progress. The aim of this article is to highlight the role of public consultations in the process of decision-making by local authorities regarding the use of the PPP formula to realise investment projects. The major source of information are publications on public consultations and PPP, including those released by the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
