Deliberations on Book Loss

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the feelings of people who have lost their private book collections as a result of dramatic historical events and other disasters, as well as to librarians, who are saving library collections in extreme situations. Tragedies experienced in such times are compared to mourning after the loss of loved ones, and devotion to saving books can be described as heroic. Our national history presents us with a rich exemplification material for such deliberations.
